THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 and assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law, including divorce, custody, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
