Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond her legal practice since she was actively a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law – custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
